WordPress is an opensource web software can be used to create your own website or blog. It is an easy to use highly flexible content managing system (CMS) which enables you to build and manage your own full featured custom website using just your web browser.

Writing a reflective online journal (blog)
Serving as a repository for course information and knowledge

Pros:

Opensource, so completely free
Constantly evolving and improving
Flexible and extensible - thousands of plugins, widgets and themes
Can run on an web browser
User friendly - simplistic interface
Easil import and export data

Cons:

Lack of flexibilty - it is designed for small content websites
Software needs to be updated regularly
